“Незрозумілі пропозиції”: Сибіга назвав російські сигнали про мир маніпуляціями після атаки на Київ

Following a massive Russian attack on Kyiv, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha urged partners to react strongly to Russian terror. He also called Kremlin’s statements about readiness for peace mere manipulation.

Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiha, dismissed Moscow’s signals of readiness for peace and proposals for “unclear individuals” to act as negotiators as manipulative.

He made these statements against the backdrop of destroyed locations in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack.

Andriy Sybiha called on Europe to react firmly to Russian terror

On May 25, representatives from over 70 foreign nations visited the sites of the Russian attacks on Kyiv on May 24. This visit was at the invitation of the Foreign Minister.

Andriy Sybiha, along with his counterparts from other countries, laid flowers in a gesture to honor the memory of the deceased.

“We call on the international community for strong reactions to Russian terror. Clear signals are needed for Moscow that we are united, that we will respond firmly, that Ukraine will receive additional air defense packages and missiles, and that Ukraine will definitely be a member of the EU,” he addressed the foreign representatives.

The Ukrainian minister urged European partners to react forcefully to Russian terror, specifically to the brutal attack on Kyiv on May 24, and to strengthen support for Ukraine.

“The response must be firm… We see what the enemy truly responds with – it is deaths, destruction, strikes on the historical part of the city,” he stated.

Currently, Ukraine expects its partners to provide additional air defense systems and missiles. In addition, Kyiv counts on support on its path to EU accession and the opening of six negotiation clusters by June 2026.

Furthermore, Andriy Sybiha branded Russian signals of alleged readiness for peace and proposals for “unclear individuals” as negotiators as manipulative.

Sybiha urged NATO to increase its contribution to Ukraine’s defense

As a reminder, during an informal meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha spoke of a turning point in the war. He emphasized that Ukraine is a vital participant in European security, and Russia’s human resources are no longer its decisive advantage.

According to him, diplomacy, pressure, and strength are necessary to achieve peace, which is why he urged partners to invest more actively in Ukrainian defense. Additionally, the Foreign Minister stressed that Kyiv insists on EU membership by 2027 as a key security guarantee before any peace agreements.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing in Europe regarding the format of future negotiations with Russia and the role of European countries therein. French President Emmanuel Macron had not ruled out contacts with Putin, and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated the necessity of Europe’s presence at the negotiating table.

However, the EU approaches such initiatives with caution: the bloc’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, announced that the foreign ministers of member states would discuss Europe’s role in the peace process in more detail later.
