President Volodymyr Zelenskyy penned an open letter to Russian Federation head Volodymyr Putin, emphasizing Ukraine’s proposal to end the war. The Kremlin stated the message was “taken into consideration” but defiantly accused Kyiv of unwillingness for peace.

This was announced by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, the letter was conveyed to “Führer” Volodymyr Putin. However, he did not disclose the Kremlin head’s reaction, saying he “would not get ahead of himself.”

Although the Ukrainian leader stressed in the letter that the war must be concluded through negotiations, Moscow continues to repeat the narrative that “negotiations are on pause,” and whether they resume “depends on Kyiv.”

“Good groundwork needs to be done regarding advancing the Ukrainian issue through a peaceful track,” Peskov cynically stated.

He claimed that the Russian side “continues to communicate with the Americans through existing channels,” while asserting that “there are no official channels of communication with Ukraine.”

Zelenskyy’s Letter to Putin

It became known previously that Zelenskyy had written an open letter to Putin for the first time. He stated, in particular, that the full-scale war was a consequence of the Kremlin’s political choice.

From the text published on the official website of the president, it is understood that he proposed a complete ceasefire on the front lines. According to Zelenskyy, the current line of combat engagement should serve as the starting point for a diplomatic resolution to the war.

Furthermore, the head of state declared that the Russian army suffers significant losses each month. In May, this amounted to over 30,000 killed and severely wounded Russians.
