Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are currently impossible. He accused Kyiv of allegedly engaging in terrorist activities and deliberately hindering the peace process.
This was reported by Russian mass media.
According to Peskov, it is difficult for him to imagine the possibility of negotiations at this time. The spokesperson for the Russian dictator’s thesis is based on fabricated terrorist actions by Kyiv.
Peskov also once again made a false statement that Ukraine is allegedly doing everything to slow down the process of peaceful settlement.
Obviously, the effective work of the Ukrainian Defense Forces is greatly annoying the occupiers in Crimea, as Peskov also reported that the Russian authorities are developing a set of measures to deal with fuel supply problems in the peninsula.
Recall that on the morning of June 8, a series of explosions occurred in occupied Crimea in Simferopol, Sevastopol, Feodosia, and several villages. In Gvardiyskoye, an electrical substation and an oil depot were hit, causing fires and power outages. “Atesh” confirmed strikes on the railway and a number of explosions in Feodosia, and the occupiers reported a drone attack.
It should be noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have established fire control over the enemy’s logistics route to Crimea, which, along with previous attacks on oil depots, is already causing a shortage of goods on the peninsula.
The end of the war — latest statements from Ukraine and the Russian Federation
Recall that on June 4, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an open letter to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, stated that the war must be ended honestly through negotiations. He proposed a meeting with the dictator with the participation of mediators in Switzerland, Turkey, or Arab countries, with the mandatory participation of the United States and Europe as security guarantors, and also confirmed his readiness for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange according to the “all for all” formula.
The Kremlin stated that they had familiarized themselves with the letter but criticized the form of address itself, calling publicity “using a megaphone.” Peskov stated that if the Ukrainian president really wants a meeting, he can come to Moscow. At the same time, the Russian Federation continued to insist on old narratives: negotiations are allegedly “on pause” due to Kyiv’s position, and the Russian side itself is not conducting official communication with Ukraine, limiting itself to communication channels with the United States.
Putin himself stated that hostilities in Ukraine will cease only after Russia achieves all its set goals, without naming any specific deadlines or compromise conditions.
In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov again put forward a cynical condition for ending the war, calling the “protection of Russian speakers” and the “fight against Russophobia” the Kremlin’s priority. He spoke about the alleged “terrorism of the Kyiv regime” and demands the restoration of the rights of Russian speakers in Ukraine as a necessary condition for resolving the conflict.
