Vyacheslav Markhayev, a State Duma deputy from Russia’s Communist Party, has criticized the Kremlin and its war strategy. He called for a “clear plan” for the war, which contradicts the Kremlin’s narrative.

This is stated in a new report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The Russian deputy published a post on his social media pages, in which he spoke harshly about the war and propaganda. He accused the Kremlin of using events such as Victory Day and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum to demonstrate a false sense of prosperity and the “personal enrichment of the elite.”

Markhayev emphasized that claims of alleged well-being occur against the backdrop of constant prohibitions, restrictions, and financial burdens for ordinary Russians. Moreover, he unexpectedly accused the political elite of the Russian Federation of losing touch with the needs of the Russian people.

The CPRF deputy acknowledged that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are expanding the geographical scope of their long-range strikes on Russia and also spoke harshly about the war in Ukraine. Unexpectedly, Markhayev criticized the Kremlin for publicly limiting its military goals from all of Ukraine to only those regions that Russia has captured.

According to him, Moscow allegedly needs a clear public plan for ending the war in Ukraine based on Russia’s national interests.

“ISW has not observed any signs that Markhayev’s social media accounts have been hacked. Russian media and so-called milbloggers, particularly those associated with the Kremlin, have not disseminated Markhayev’s statements as of this writing,” the analysts’ text states.

Recall that the Kremlin is again in hysterics over Ukraine and brazenly continues to claim that it allegedly welcomes a “peaceful settlement.” In particular, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova was outraged by the five basic conditions for peace voiced by the leaders of Great Britain, France, and Germany. According to her, they allegedly “put forward conditions that are deliberately unacceptable to Moscow.”

At the same time, dictator Volodymyr Putin is tightening the screws to retain power. On June 10, the dictator-president signed a law allowing Russian authorities to confiscate property of citizens accused of crimes against the interests of the Russian Federation abroad.
