President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed organizing a meeting with his Russian counterpart Volodymyr Putin on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France. However, the Russian side once again refused dialogue on ending the war.
Zelenskyy told journalists about this, as reported by The Guardian.
The head of state announced that he had proposed to the Russian dictator to hold a meeting during the G7 summit in France this week to discuss possible ways to end the war.
“We conveyed the message that we are ready to meet with Putin during the G7 summit, because Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron will be there, meaning Europe plus America. This, in my opinion, is a very good opportunity for everyone to meet together,” he said.
However, according to Zelenskyy, Moscow has not shown readiness for dialogue.
“Europe and the United States agreed, and Russia once again showed that… they are not ready to talk,” he added.

On June 14, Zelenskyy had a substantive phone conversation with Trump, during which he congratulated him on his 80th birthday and discussed ways to end the war. The head of state spoke about the situation at the front, thanked for military support, and announced discussions of ideas for bringing peace closer during a meeting at the G7 summit.
The G7 summit, held from June 15-17 in Évian, France, will be a platform for discussing ways to end the war in Ukraine. According to media reports, within the framework of the event, Zelenskyy will participate in a working session with the involvement of Trump, with whom he agreed on a personal meeting. The leaders plan to discuss ideas for achieving peace and strengthening Ukraine’s positions; meanwhile, the participation of Ukraine, Russia, the USA, and Europe is considered the key format for negotiations.
