Leaders of the G7 have agreed to boost air defense supplies to Ukraine. News 17.06.2026 06:24 Ukrinform The states of the “Group of Seven” have agreed to increase the supply of air defense systems and long-range weaponry to Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reports, this is stated in a joint statement by the G7 leaders following the summit in France.

“We have agreed to increase supplies of air defense means, additional systems and interceptors, as well as long-range capabilities. We are also prepared to consider granting Ukraine licenses for the expansion of its own military production,” the statement reads.

The leaders of the “Group of Seven” countries have also pledged to intensify pressure on Russia’s war economy.

“We will strengthen sanctions, particularly in the oil and gas sectors. We believe that now is a very opportune moment to introduce additional measures, as President Trump has concluded an agreement, which we support in terms of opening the Strait of Hormuz,” they indicated.

The G7 also emphasizes the importance of energy resilience: “We have agreed to continue supporting Ukraine to help it get through the next winter.”

A separate section of the joint statement is dedicated to the Middle East. “We welcome the announcement of an agreement between the US and Iran, concluded under the decisive leadership of President Trump and with the support of intermediary states. This agreement creates a historic opportunity to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to respond to the threats associated with its regional and ballistic activities. We support and are ready to participate in the implementation of the agreement,” the G7 leaders assured.

The “Group of Seven” also expressed concern about North Korea’s nuclear program and emphasized the importance of a “free and open Indo-Pacific region, based on the rule of law.”

As Ukrinform reported, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during the G7 summit, leaders of states and the leadership of the EU demonstrated a united position regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine and the need to increase pressure on the Kremlin.
