Over the past two weeks, Ukrainian drones have disabled approximately 75% of the Kerch Strait ferry crossing’s capacity, which facilitates supply between mainland Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
This was reported by the Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi (“Madyar”), on his Telegram channel.
“Minus 75% of the Kerch Strait ferry crossing’s capacity within two weeks of the USS operation ‘MoLoChKa’. 25% remains, will they survive? I don’t think so,” wrote Brovdi.
According to him, before the operation, the crossing was serviced by four main ferries — “Lavrentiy”, “Panagia”, “Eysk”, and “Mariya”, as well as the reserve vessel SKS-One. Following a series of strikes by the Unmanned Systems Forces in cooperation with the SBU, their operations were severely disrupted.
As reported by the Commander of the USS, the ferry “Eysk” was towed to Kerch after strikes on July 12-13, but its return to service is not planned. The vessel SKS-One, according to him, was destroyed and “lies in the port of Kamysh-Burun, beyond repair”. The ferry “Mariya” was also taken out of service after multiple hits.
Two other ferries — “Lavrentiy” and “Panagia” — lost their ability to move independently after strikes by Ukrainian forces and are now only used as barges, significantly reducing their effectiveness.
“The daily aggregate capacity of the four once-operational ferries under standard non-combat conditions was 180-250 transport units. More precisely, it *was* the capacity,” noted Brovdi.
According to him, about 80% of the transportation across the crossing served the needs of the Russian military department, so the incapacitation of most ferries significantly complicates the logistics of occupation forces and supplies to the temporarily occupied Crimea.
“The Kerch Strait ferry crossing is DONE,” concluded the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
As a reminder, Ukraine has focused on isolating occupied Crimea by systematically destroying the Russian army’s logistical routes and supply channels for fuel, ammunition, and military equipment.
