In Germany, on the night of Monday, the threat to a town bordering Belgium resumed due to a fire raging in a Belgian nature reserve.

After optimistic reports during the day that the fire front had stopped advancing towards German Monschau, which is 2 km from the state border, the situation worsened by the end of the day, and residents of some areas of the city were evacuated.

Spokesperson for the fire and rescue service, Tobias Schell, reported that the flames are already 300 meters from the recently evacuated homes in Monschau. 

All night, trucks with water tanks drove through the city in the direction of the fire. 

The fire in the Hohes Venn nature reserve is already being called a record in the modern history of Belgium, it covers about 3000 hectares. On Sunday, firefighters from Germany arrived to assist the Belgian firefighters.
