Within the day of August 18, a video clip circulated online, depicting a man in military attire restraining a teenager against a vehicle, tugging his ears, and applying a hold. The Odesa Regional Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support announced an official inquiry into the incident.
The recruitment center stated that all circumstances of the event, the prerequisites for the conflict, and the identities of those captured in the video are currently being ascertained. A corresponding statement was released in the evening on the regional recruitment center’s Facebook page.
“Regarding the video recording involving an individual in military uniform and a teenager, which is being disseminated on social networks, we wish to inform you of the following: the leadership of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support has immediately initiated an official investigation into this matter,” the statement reads.
They emphasized that any manifestations of violence, abuse of power, or improper conduct towards citizens are unacceptable. The recruitment center also stressed that if guilt and the involvement of servicemen in an offense are confirmed, they will be held accountable according to the law.

On Tuesday, Odesa Telegram channels circulated a video clip showing a man, allegedly in military uniform, using physical force against a teenager. One of the channels displayed the man restraining the child, pressing the boy against a van, pulling his ears, and hitting him in the face.
The Odesa media outlet “Dumska” reported, citing eyewitnesses, that the man in military uniform is allegedly an employee of the recruitment center. It was noted that he purportedly apprehended the teenager because the boy was throwing stones at the van.

Other Telegram channels reported that the young man did not throw anything at the vehicle. It is suggested that the reason for the altercation might have been a remark he made aloud, which angered the serviceman.
As a reminder, on August 18, the State Bureau of Investigation reported that 10 military personnel from recruitment centers in the Odesa region are suspected in 15 episodes of violence.
Additionally, on August 16, lawyer Nikita Chekman reported that military recruitment center personnel detained the Metropolitan of the UOC in Kyiv.
