Ukraine possesses the capability to prevail in a war of attrition against Russia. This understanding is now beginning to dawn even in the West.

Former Commander of the US Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, believes that a turning point in Russia’s war against Ukraine is occurring in favor of Kyiv. In his opinion, both Europe and Washington are gradually starting to realize this.
He shared this in an interview with “Ukrinform.”
“Europe appears to increasingly comprehend and value that its security is contingent upon Ukraine’s success,” remarked the former commander.
However, Hodges is disappointed that the US Republican administration does not perceive Russia as an adversary, a “bad guy,” and hesitates with aid to Ukraine, which could have secured Europe for a generation.
The retired general assumes that this administration sees, even if it hasn’t yet admitted it, that the war has reached a turning point in Ukraine’s favor.
In his view, at this stage, the most crucial action Western partners can take is to invest in Ukraine’s defense industry, which has developed very strong capabilities.

Recent months on the front have resulted in a significant setback for the Kremlin: the Defense Forces have managed to effectively contain significantly larger occupying forces through a technological and tactical breakthrough.
As military analyst Franz-Stefan Gady notes, Ukraine is undoubtedly in a stronger position than many anticipated. However, war involves cycles of adaptation, and the question is whether Russia can find responses to Ukraine’s improved situation. “At this stage of the war, we can only confidently look a few weeks ahead,” he states.
Previously, the US indicated possible timelines for the war in Ukraine’s conclusion. Experts have spoken of a potential shift in the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine as early as this year.
