Many people, during renovations or dismantling old sheds and houses, discard antique door handles into the trash. However, it turns out that some of them can bring a good profit, simply by carefully removing them from the doors.
The author of the video, registered on TikTok (@kyplubakelit.ua), showed in detail the process of dismantling Soviet-era door handles and explained why these items are of interest to him.
“No need to break, no need to rip. Just bend one ear, bend the other – and earn 300 hryvnias. A common old Soviet door handle. These door handles are interesting to me precisely because of their material. I’ll buy them in any condition,” notes the collector.

The parts are bought in any condition. Even if the handle has chips or damage, it remains valuable due to its material.

The author provided a step-by-step instruction on how to remove the handle. Using a common tool (pliers), it is sufficient to gently bend the fastening ears on both sides, after which the handle is easily removed.
To evaluate and sell such items, owners are invited to send photos for verification via messengers. Additionally, the buyer covers the shipping costs by mail.
Why He Needs Them
According to viewers in the comments, the craftsman most likely makes prayer beads from Bakelite – the world’s first synthetic thermosetting plastic (phenol-formaldehyde resin). This material does not melt, does not conduct electricity, and does not change shape after hardening, withstanding high temperatures. It is a hard, rigid, and mechanically resistant material.
