Британські воєначальники шокували заявою про справжні небезпеки з боку РФ, наближаючи нас до повномасштабного конфлікту.

The British military leadership has officially acknowledged the current level of Russian threat as the highest since the Cold War and has issued a stark warning about the radical changes society will urgently need to prepare for.

Confrontation between Russia and Great Britain

Britain needs a decade to rebuild its army amid record threats from Russia

The level of danger to Great Britain from Russia has reached its highest point since the end of the Cold War. According to Air Force Chief of Staff Sir Richard Knighton, the country is on the verge of its most perilous period in decades.

The Independent reports on the military command’s concerns and the challenges facing the British army.

Moscow is rapidly escalating its actions, engaging in cyberattacks, assassination attempts, and risky sabotage. Sir Knighton emphasizes that society must recognize these threats and adjust its priorities.

Readiness for prolonged wars and new technologies

For the past two decades, the British armed forces have primarily prepared for short-term and localized conflicts. However, given the experience of the war in Ukraine, the nation must now be ready for much larger and more protracted confrontations.

To effectively deter adversaries, Britain must enhance its army’s combat readiness in conjunction with its allies. Military experts advise particular attention to drones and autonomous systems, which will play an increasingly crucial role in future warfare.

Defense budget and resource shortages

The long-awaited Defence Investment Plan, repeatedly postponed since last autumn, is expected to be published in the coming weeks. This document will outline the allocation of military spending amidst calls from US President Donald Trump for an increase in the British defense budget. The delay in the plan has already drawn significant criticism, as the army and industry require a clear understanding of the country’s future direction.

Former Chief of Defence Staff Lord Stirrup warned that Britain is currently highly vulnerable and needs at least a decade for a full defense recovery. Due to the necessary and appropriate assistance provided to Ukraine, British ammunition stockpiles have been significantly depleted, necessitating urgent replenishment. Furthermore, Western Europe critically lacks a flexible and robust military-industrial base for rapid production scaling.

Recall that the British Prime Minister named a year of potential war between Russia and NATO. Starmer asserts that Russia is already intensifying its activities and testing the limits of what is permissible in its confrontation with the West.
