The new head of the Latvian Ministry of Defence, Raivis Melnis, publicly supported Ukraine’s right to attack military targets on Russian territory.

He announced this to journalists, as reported by Ukrinform.

According to the minister, Ukraine has a legitimate right to defend its state by all available means, including striking targets in Russia.

Furthermore, Melnis emphasized that Latvia will strengthen its own air defence system due to the threat from Russia.

“We need to build our own air defence system to intercept all drones flying towards Latvia. It is Russia that is sending them to Latvia. We will intercept all drones and support Ukraine in its fight,” he stated.

Thus, Latvia has once again confirmed its consistent support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing Russian aggression.
