The Russian Federation is capable of launching up to a thousand long-range drones per day towards Kyiv, while the figure of 10,000 pertains to all types of UAVs along the entire front line.

Statements about Russia’s ability to launch 10,000 drones daily directly at Kyiv are inaccurate, as this number encompasses all types of UAVs across the entire front line.
This was stated by Valeriy Borovyk, founder of First Contact company, to Kyiv24.
Can Russia Really Attack Kyiv with 10,000 Drones?
The expert emphasized the need to differentiate between types of unmanned aerial vehicles and their deployment areas. According to Valeriy Borovyk, the figure of 10,000 refers to the total number of all UAVs involved in the war – reconnaissance drones, frontline drones at the contact line, as well as drones in the deep strike and middle strike categories.
The specialist clarified that deep strike drones are designed to hit targets in Ukraine’s deep rear, including regional centers like Kyiv or Zhytomyr, which are beyond the reach of middle strike assets. For strikes on rear cities, the aggressor currently has limited resources.
“If we are talking about strikes on Kyiv, Zhytomyr, or other cities, let’s say, regional centers that are further from the contact line and out of reach for middle strike, they can currently use about a thousand drones for this. This includes a portion of reserves and a portion of production that is launched directly,” Borovyk noted.
According to the expert, due to the continuous increase in the production of Russian UAVs, traditional air defense systems will cease to cope with the load. To effectively destroy mass drone swarms, Ukraine will need new technological solutions, including mass laser or electromagnetic countermeasures.
At the same time, an increase in the output of enemy drones is constrained by several issues. Among them are difficulties with component supply, logistics, and communication systems, as well as precise strikes by Ukrainian forces on Russian factories, launch sites, and the drone operators themselves.
War in Ukraine – Latest News
It is worth recalling that Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine is increasingly taking on the characteristics of a so-called total war, where confrontation extends far beyond the front lines, targeting the economy, infrastructure, and the state’s ability to continue fighting.
Military expert Ivan Tymochko also warned that Russia might intensify missile attacks or carry out sabotage on Ukraine’s Independence Day due to the symbolic nature of the date.
Incidentally, July became one of the bloodiest months for the Russian army since the beginning of the full-scale war: Russia lost 42,860 military personnel killed and wounded.
