President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he was aware of the preparation for the Ukrainian operation that took place on the day of his meetings with international partners. At the same time, according to him, it was not specifically timed to coincide with negotiations with US President Donald Trump.

This was discussed in Zelenskyy’s interview with TSN anchor Alla Mazur.

Zelenskyy emphasized that he oversees such processes, but the exact timing of the operation’s execution was not tied to the diplomatic meeting schedule.

“I knew that we had an operation that day, of course. I control all these processes. But at what second, at what minute it would happen, or if it could coincide with a meeting with Trump – no,” the president said.

According to Zelenskyy, the G7 participants were already aware of the Ukrainian operation during the negotiations and had seen its results. The President noted that the G7 leaders supported Ukraine’s actions as a just response to Russian aggression.

“The entire G7 at the negotiation table knew about our operation, had already seen the outcome at that moment, and absolutely supported Ukraine’s just, adequate response,” he stated.

Zelenskyy also mentioned that, in his opinion, the G7 had shown unprecedented unified support for Ukraine regarding the intensification of sanctions pressure on Russia.

According to the president, partners had seen the consequences of the massive Russian shelling of Kyiv the day before, including damage to a Christian shrine. Zelenskyy recounted showing the leaders photographs of Ukrainian sites that had suffered from Russian attacks.

“I showed photographs of our cathedral, the Lavra, and not only. Everyone saw how the cathedral burned, saw these pictures, knew about the casualties,” Zelenskyy said.

The president added that European leaders and the American side had seen Ukraine’s arguments and understood that the Russian strikes were not accidental.

Attack on Moscow: Latest News

On June 18, Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow. Fires and heavy smoke were observed after strikes on a refinery in the Russian capital.

Subsequently, local residents began complaining about a black residue covering cars, house windows, and clothing. This was likely caused by the aftermath of fires following the attack on the refinery.

Against this backdrop, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down nearly 1,000 drones and missiles, with about 200 of them, according to the Russian department, heading for Moscow. These figures cannot be independently confirmed.

The Kremlin reacted to the massive Ukrainian strikes on Moscow, which alarmed Russians and damaged the refinery. Putin’s administration expressed dissatisfaction with the attack and stated that such strikes “do not bring personal contacts” with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy any closer.
