The Polish President, Ksawery Nawrocki, has revoked the Order of the White Eagle from his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which he received in April 2023 from the then-head of state, Andrzej Duda. As anticipated, a furious reaction from Russia was not long in coming.
TSN.ua has gathered the hysterical statements of Russian officials.
Unsurprisingly, the special representative of the Russian dictator, Kirill Dmitriev, was greatly pleased by Nawrocki’s decision. He brazenly declared that Poland “has finally identified supporters of Nazis in Ukraine.”
At the same time, the henchman of the “Führer” launched accusations against the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, who sharply criticized the president’s decision. According to Dmitriev, Tusk is “trying to protect Nazis, while Nawrocki exposes them.”
Even greater cynicism was shown by Putin’s jester, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev. In his insolent post, he spared no words, audaciously calling the President of Ukraine the “leader of Banderites.”
Moreover, apparently forgetting about the crimes of the regime of the “Führer” of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, Medvedev contemptuously spoke of a “Hitler’s Iron Cross” for Zelenskyy instead of the Polish order.
Decision Regarding the Order — How Poland Reacts
On June 19, it became known that following the UPA scandal, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was stripped of Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle. The Polish leader, Ksawery Nawrocki, explained that this decoration is a symbol of special trust and gratitude from the Polish people, and therefore, after consultations with the chapter, such a decision was made.
It should be noted that this decision was met with mixed reactions in the Polish political scene. The Vice-President of the Law and Justice party, Przemysław Czarnek, believes that Nawrocki made a very correct decision, stating that “Poland has the right and the obligation to demand historical truth.”
At the same time, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was sharp in his comments on Nawrocki’s decision. According to him, this conflict between Poland and Ukraine “shocks allies” and also “pleases Putin.”
