Romantic comedy “Chervona Ruta Train” premieres in Ukrainian cinemas on August 20 – a film dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence and the 55th anniversary of Volodymyr Ivasiuk’s song of the same name.
On the eve of the premiere, director and producer Yuriy Horbunov shared with Focus the behind-the-scenes of the filming and explained why his filmography has almost no roles for his wife, TV presenter Kateryna Osadcha.
According to Horbunov, his wife’s role in the new film is symbolic – she appears on screen for only a short period, and the director did not reveal details of this episode, inviting viewers to see everything for themselves in the cinema.
Explaining why Osadcha rarely stars in his works, Horbunov dismissed the idea of a principled unwillingness to mix family and work. The reason, he said, is much more prosaic: “Katia is simply not an actress, and she doesn’t really want to do what she’s not very good at, so that’s why.”

Another famous participant of the project is singer Iryna Bilyk, with whom Horbunov is connected not only creatively but also personally: they are godparents and have maintained a friendship for 33 years.
The director reacted with humor to rumors about the singer’s supposedly difficult character, noting that perhaps she is demanding with someone, but he also left the details of her role as an intrigue until the premiere.
