The actress encountered perilous situations during her student years and at the beginning of her acting career; however, no attempt at coercion or manipulation ever succeeded. Her character, forged by the turbulent 90s, and her ability to sense danger in mere seconds aided her.
Ukrainian actress Irma Vitovska, in an interview with journalist Alina Dorotyuk, shared how she avoided harassment from men in the professional environment at the start of her career. She also recalled hiding in bushes to escape the clutches of criminals.
Hid in Bushes from “Thugs”
According to Vitovska, even as a teenager, she had to hide in bushes from men in cars and escape through toilet windows, saving herself from danger. It was this honed self-preservation instinct that later helped her recognize the impure intentions of her male colleagues almost instantly.
“I was so beautiful – 47 kilograms. I didn’t have any outcome, none of those harassments worked out, but I knew how to cleverly slip away, get out of there. Yes, you had to know how to do it – we are people of the 90s. When you had to walk down the road and, for example, “thugs” were driving by, you had to quickly orient yourself and lie down in the bushes so they would drive past and not see you. Just collapsing in heels into that… You’d go home later, change into a new dress to get to the club,” the actress recalled.

Slipped Away Through Toilets
However, not everyone was fortunate enough to escape. Some girls did become victims of attackers.
“It’s always a risk when you know: cars have passed – they’re about to grab you now. And you have to slip away through the toilet, through the window. That is, everyone takes off their heels, runs to the toilets… Whoever didn’t make it, got caught. I’m telling you this because it was the early 90s, those were the times,” the actress added.
“I Would Have Left”
Vitovska’s response to a hypothetical question was the most pointed: what would she choose if forced to decide between a role and her own principles. The actress had no doubts.

“I never had a situation where they said you wouldn’t work, and blackmailed me like that. Firstly, I would have left. I’m not afraid of any job. I have this male charisma… I cooperate, but I won’t let myself be walked all over,” she concluded.
