The EU is sounding the alarm over the security of the Baltic region. Ursula von der Leyen warned of increasing threats that could have wider implications for all of Europe.

Security challenges in the Baltic region, particularly stemming from drone attacks, cyber threats, and disinformation campaigns, may soon affect the rest of Europe.
This was stated by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during her address, as reported by Clash Report.
She emphasized the need for an immediate response to current hybrid and technological risks. According to her, the situation around the Baltic Sea serves as an indicator of broader European threats.
“We also need to better integrate national systems, for example, with the ‘Copernicus’ and ‘Galileo’ programs. This will ensure more effective cross-border information exchange and improve early warning capabilities,” noted the head of the European Commission.
To counter this, she urged EU countries to change their approach to collective security, stressing the importance of strengthening defenses, improving crisis preparedness, and ensuring clear coordination within the union.
Threat to Baltic countries from Russia — latest news
Recall that Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, expressed territorial claims against Estonia. He stated on his social media that this country “belonged to Russia just as Donbas does.”
Earlier, the ISW stated that the Russian Federation is intensifying its efforts to create informational conditions for potential future aggression against the Baltic states.
Incidentally, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Russia’s repeated accusations against Baltic countries of providing their airspace for Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory are “concerning” due to “fears of escalation.”
