“Немає логіки”: Міністерство закордонних справ відреагувало на російські звинувачення щодо удару по Запорізькій АЕС

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine rejected Russia’s accusations of a supposed Ukrainian attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

The department described these statements as another disinformation campaign timed to coincide with the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.

“We interpret these statements as another information operation by the occupying state, aimed at diverting the attention of the international community from the sole real source of nuclear danger at the Zaporizhzhia NPP – the illegal Russian occupation of the plant,” the official statement reads.

The MFA noted that the “Russian statements lack logic, as it is unclear why Ukraine would need to strike its own plant on its own territory, which it seeks to regain control of.”

It is recalled that on May 30, representatives of the Russian state corporation Rosatom disseminated information about a supposed Ukrainian strike on the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

In response to Russia’s accusations, the South Defense Forces **emphasized** that the Russian Federation continues to use the Zaporizhzhia NPP as a tool for nuclear blackmail and information provocations.

Statements about a supposed strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on NPP facilities were called another attempt to discredit Ukraine and conceal its own criminal actions.

“The defense forces of Ukraine did not strike power unit №6 of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Ukrainian servicemen act exclusively within the norms of international humanitarian law and are aware of the consequences of any actions on nuclear facilities,” the military stressed.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, **suggested** that Russia is trying with this lie to cover up its own **strike on a high-rise building in Romania**, as well as the fact of an attack on the Chernobyl NPP sarcophagus in 2025.
