Russia may impose restrictions on the export of diesel and aviation fuel due to a reduction in domestic production, which is linked to regular attacks on energy infrastructure.

According to Bloomberg, Russian companies have already been advised to reduce sales of oil products to foreign markets. Sources indicate that the issue of a complete ban on diesel and aviation fuel exports is in its final phase, though the exact date for potential restrictions is not yet determined.

If such a decision is adopted, it could significantly impact global oil product markets, as Russia remains one of the key exporters of diesel fuel, selling about 40% of its produced volume abroad.

It is also noted that in recent months, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, including oil refineries.

According to estimates by the analytical company OilX, the average oil processing rate in Russia in April decreased to 4.69 million barrels per day – the lowest figure in over 16 years. Analysts warn that the intensity of attacks could lead to a further decline in processing, especially against the backdrop of a seasonal increase in fuel demand.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated after a meeting with industry representatives that relevant departments must constantly monitor the situation in the domestic market. He emphasized that the stable provision of fuel to Russian consumers is currently the government’s priority.

Earlier, it was reported that the operation of the strategic Syzran refinery was completely halted following Ukrainian attacks.

We previously informed that Russia has been preparing large-scale restrictions for civil aviation over Central Russia since June due to drone threats.
