President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is interested in prolonging the war in the Middle East. According to intelligence, the Kremlin welcomes this conflict as it distracts the US from supporting Ukraine and supplying Patriot systems.

The head of state shared this in an interview with Fox News.

Russian Aid to Iran

Zelenskyy said he does not know if US President Donald Trump considers his conflict with Iran to be linked to Russia’s war against Ukraine. However, the Ukrainian leader himself is convinced that such a connection exists.

“I think so. You know, look at it. Russia supplied Iran with drones. Iran used these drones to attack countries in the Middle East and Israel. This is true. The wreckage of downed drones contains Russian components. Everyone has seen this. There are relevant кадрs,” said the President of Ukraine.

According to him, Russia also provided Iran with satellite imagery showing American military bases in Middle Eastern countries.

“Yes, they did. After that, Russia is very pleased,” Zelenskyy said.

It is Beneficial for Russia to Prolong the War in the Middle East

The head of state noted that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian side views the prolonged war in the Middle East and the absence of its actual conclusion positively. He explained that this is advantageous for Moscow.

“Why? Because they understand that as long as the United States is involved in this war, they cannot help Ukraine at the same level as before. For example, with Patriot systems. This is just one example. And there are many more such examples,” Zelenskyy explained.

Recall that earlier Trump commented on Zelenskyy’s statement about Russian aid to Iran. He promised to personally ask Russian President Vladimir Putin about transferring satellite data to Tehran for attacks on US military facilities, but suggested it did not have a significant impact.
